More than 35 States Have Approved Some Type of Marijuana Use. Are You Ready?

Back to Blog
Significant change is afoot with regards to cannabis. Not only have many states and local jurisdictions legalized medical and/or recreational use of marijuana, societal attitudes toward the drug have shifted over the past several years.

At Asurint, we’ve been working to keep human resources professionals up-to-date on the latest legal changes and marijuana-related topics employers may wish to consider. We recognize that further education can be helpful as employers strive to implement fair, effective, and legally compliant policies on cannabis.

That’s why our latest webinar will focus on Marijuana’s High Impact: The Evolving Landscape of Drug Testing. The complimentary event will be held on Thursday, December 12th at 12 p.m. EST.

The webinar will feature Asurint General Counsel, Kelly Uebel, who was also recently named Secretary/Treasurer for the Professional Background Screening Association (PBSA). She will share her expertise on evolving marijuana laws and explore such topics as:
  • How legalization of medical and/or recreational marijuana use could affect employers’ efforts to establish a Drug-Free Workplace
  • Potential impacts of decriminalization of marijuana cases on employers’ reviews of positive drug tests and background reports with prior convictions
  • The challenges of navigating the variety of state and local drug testing limitations and other new regulations
  • How an increasingly lenient view of cannabis may affect hiring choices, especially in a tight job market
An abundance of time will be reserved for questions and discussion, so there will be opportunity to address your most pressing marijuana-related inquiries and exchange ideas and strategies with other HR teams and recruiters facing similar challenges.

The webinar will not provide legal consultation on hiring or drug testing policies. The educational content will, however, deliver a high-level overview of the legal landscape to facilitate participants’ further investigation and future conversations with their own counsel.

Change is the only constant in cannabis policy today, so don’t miss this chance to gain a deeper understanding of the marijuana landscape heading into 2020. Sign up to participate in the free Marijuana’s High Impact webinar here.
